It is officially Fourth of July weekend and fireworks are back on the Outer Banks! Independence Day Festivities will be taking place from Saturday to Monday, from Corolla down to Hatteras. Corolla
Currituck Travel and Tourism will be hosting an Independence day celebration on Monday, July 5th at the Historic Corolla Park from 5-9 p.m. Free onsite parking is available beginning at 3 p.m. on a first come, first served basis. Please plan accordingly.
The celebration will include live music, a watermelon eating contest, and a kids dance contest in addition to the Fireworks show which begins shortly after sundown. The event will also feature local food trucks. Admission is free and dogs are permitted on leashes.
Kill Devil Hills
The town of Kill Devil Hills fireworks show will take place on July 4th at Avalon Pier near milepost 6. The display will begin at 9:15 p.m. and admission is free. The display will also be live streamed on the town’s YouTube channel.
Nags Head
The Town of Nags Head’s annual Independence Day Fireworks Spectacular will be held at Nags Head Pier on Sunday, July 4th at 9:25 p.m. In addition to viewing from local Nags Head beach accesses, you may also view from Jockey’s Ridge State Park which will be open late on the 4th. However, visitors are asked to leave the park immediately following the close of the show.
Manteo
The Town of Manteo will be hosting Fourth of July festivities all-day on July 4th beginning at the Old Courthouse at 3 p.m. The festivities include live music, a wacky hat contest, decorated bike contest, apple pie contest, fun and games for the whole family, and of course, fireworks after-dark over the waters of Shallowbag Bay. Avon
The Avon Property Owners Association (APOA) will be hosting a 4th of July Fireworks show beginning at 9 p.m. from a launch site at the end of the Avon Pier. Fireworks will be visible all along Avon beach.
Ocracoke
The Town of Ocracoke is hosting a 2-day celebration beginning on July 3rd, beginning with an Island-wide scavenger hunt at 11 a.m., followed by live-music and a fireworks show beginning at 9:15 p.m. On the 4th, be sure to catch the Old Time Independence Day Parade at 4 p.m., ending with the Community Beach Bonfire finale from 7-10 p.m. For more information and a list of all of the events on Ocracoke, visit the event page.
