Local Love is special to us because the same people that choose to live here throughout the year, get to have the experience of a lifetime in sharing that same love with their guests from all over.
Mary-Vaughan and Carson chose The Pavilion at Pirate’s Cove Marina because it is so much more than just a venue to them. Living just minutes away in Wanchese, much of their life revolves around the water and the fishing industry here on the Outer Banks.
Being able to pull in different elements that they treasure to make their day truly their own allowed their guests to become fully immersed in their story. The vendors that they chose weren’t just businesses they found by searching online. They were their neighbors. Their friends. The ones that they have first-hand experience working with and are able to see the magic that they create for all of the couples who get married here, year after year.

From the Photographer
Like most couples last year, Mary-Vaughan, an Outer Banks elementary school teacher, and Carson, a sportfish mate, are a local couple whose wedding was an initial casualty of COVID. They took it in stride and after a date and venue change, they hosted their wedding at Pirate’s Cove Marina. They got ready at First Colony Inn (their initial venue) before heading to The Pavilion to say I Do, overlooking the marina – a fitting venue for Carson!
From the Bride
The Outer Banks is home to us, so when deciding on our venue, we knew we wanted something local. Carson is a fisherman, so the docks of Pirate’s Cove were the perfect location to celebrate and represent what is most important to us — love, family, friends, and the fishing industry. We loved the indoor and outdoor options that Pirate’s Cove has to offer, the amazing fresh shrimp that Basnight’s Lone Cedar provided, the delicious and gorgeous cake by Just Desserts, the beautiful florals and decorations by Flower Girls, how Courtney Hathaway Photography did not let a special moment go uncaptured, Jeremy and the Generations had us dancing all night long, and how stress free we felt by having Engaging Events as our coordinator! I have catered and worked many local weddings over the years, so when it came to picking vendors, I knew the rockstar team we needed for the job, and they certainly delivered! Thank you all!
