Real Outer Banks Wedding
Tyler popped the question on New Year’s Eve of 2020, and a year later, they were able to have their wedding exactly the way they wanted with all of their friends and family. Even though the wedding was indoors, Joanne and Tyler were still able to take in all of the natural beauty that Manteo has to offer. Golds and greens created a lively vibe for their celebration, and the sparkler send off was a dazzling way to start the new year and their journey together as newlyweds!

Please tell us more about your wedding and what made it special to you.
Countless things made our wedding special, including our amazing vendors. However, the most important thing for us was getting our loved ones in the same room. While we are both from Williamsburg, VA, we have friends all over the country. From friends I made in college, my husbands friends in the Marine Corps, and of course our families, it always seemed impossible to get everyone in one place together. To have this moment with all our loved ones surrounding us was unbelievable to us. We are forever thankful for these people for making the trip to OBX and supporting our love.
Please tell us why you chose the Outer Banks for your wedding.
Our wedding was also a representation of us and the Outer Banks has been a huge part of our lives.
We both grew up going to different parts of OBX every summer. I went to Ocracoke with my family and my husband Tyler would go to Duck with his. We did not know each other at the time but when we started dating in high school we found out quickly how special this place was to both of us.
We took many trips to Tyler’s family’s property in Duck throughout the years we dated. OBX is where we celebrated birthdays and holidays. We have countless memories here from paddle boarding, letting our dogs run down the beach, and Tyler even went down to Manteo one birthday to skydive with his dad.
OBX is our happy place. It’s where we fell in love with not only the idea of living by the ocean, but with each other. It only made sense to have our wedding here.
OBX will forever hold a place in our hearts and we will never stray far from it.
