Real Outer Banks Wedding
Shortly after getting engaged, covid hit and Chloe and Curtis decided to quaranite for two weeks at his family’s home in Nags Head. Once the bridges closed, the two weeks turned into nine, and after spending so much time here, they decided that there wasn’t anywhere else they would want to have their wedding. Finding a venue was tough, so they brought the wedding to them by settingup a tent and turning their backyard into a surreal and dreamy escape. They were able to find all of their venodrs locally to create a warm and inviting venue to host their family and friendsin a place they cherish.

Planning a wedding during the craziness of COVID, as many know, was no simple task. Choosing vendors and a location with a constantly moving goal post added to the already-stressful mix of it all. The Outer Banks is a very special place for us. My husband, Curtis, is from Virginia Beach and his family has had a home in Nags Head for some time now. Our first trip there together was one our most memorable times together, and our second visit there together he told me he loved me for the first time! It wasn’t long after that when Curtis asked me to marry him. The following month after our engagement, COVID hit and we grabbed a few changes of clothes, our dogs and headed to the OBX to quarantine for 2 weeks. The day after we got there they closed the bridges down, and we decided to stay for 9 weeks! We knew pretty much right away that we wanted to get married on the Outer Banks, the questions was always just “where”? After having deposits fall through on a few locations, we started to look at the possibility of doing it at his family beach house. The house sits in a great neighborhood off the 10.5 MP, and they also own the lot next door. As it turns out, not having a venue ended up being the best thing to happen to us! We decided to have the ceremony in the vacant lot next door, flush with river oak trees and natural vegetation, and the rehearsal in the main yard of the house, protected by a massive tent. Everything fell into place after that, and we were lucky enough to have perfect Outer Banks beach weather for our special day. Being able to share our most amazing moment together, surrounded by those we care so much about, at a place that we frequent several times a year makes our big day seem like it never really ended. We love the fact that we were able to work closely with vendors to turn the house into a warming venue in a matter of days. Better yet, were are able to host family and friends for years to come and relive the magical moment over and over!
