Chelsea and Woody are Outer Banks locals who have both worked in the wedding industry here, so they knew exactly what they wanted when it came time to begin planning theirs. Cutting the guest list from over 200, to just close friends and family, they were still able to live stream their ceremony to those who were unable to attend. Their charming A-Frame house was the perfect location for them to host, complete with a dockside ceremony and a tented reception, their wedding was everything and more!

What made you decide to have your wedding on the Outer Banks?
We chose the Outer Banks for our wedding because Woody grew up here and this is where we started our life together six years ago. We had originally planned to have our wedding at a large venue, however due to COVID, we decided to cut our original guest list down to just our families and bridal party, and to have the wedding in our backyard instead. It was even more meaningful because Woody proposed to me on our dock, which is where we said our vows just 10 months later.
What was planning a wedding like during a global pandemic?
We got engaged in December 2019 and began planning almost immediately. Woody and I both have worked in the wedding industry, so we knew which vendors we wanted to book. Within a few months, everything changed and we put a pause on our planning. We discussed postponing, but that was something neither of us were interested in. We had originally planned for a 200 person wedding, however, knew that would not be possible.Â
While we were disappointed we couldn’t celebrate with everyone we wanted, we were able to livestream our ceremony which worked out great. Throughout our whole planning and changing of venues and cutting the guest list, all of our vendors were incredibly understanding and accommodating. While we didn’t have the wedding we initially dreamed of, it ended up being even more special and we wouldn’t have changed a thing.
