Why they chose the Outer Banks:Â
My (Bride) parents are full time residents of the OBX and we wanted to share our little slice of heaven with our friends and family. While we could talk about ourselves and our wedding day, we truly want to encapsulate how amazing all of our vendors are and how this day would not have occurred the way it did without them. With our original wedding date scheduled for May 16, 2020, we conducted extensive research to identify (what we felt were) the best of the best in each category of vendors in both the OBX and our hometown of Hampton Roads. Then in March, the world completely shifted into lockdown mode and we had to make the unfortunate decision to cancel our wedding. We went against postponing because we truly were not sure when things would be “normal” to have our 225 person wedding. In June, restrictions in the state of VA and NC started to relax a little bit and with the help of our amazing coordinator (Ashley Earnhardt of Southern Hospitality) she was able to completely re-plan our wedding with nearly all of our original vendors in EIGHT weeks! While we significantly downsized from 225 to 40 people the day was absolutely perfect! Looking back, while we did miss some family members that were unable to travel-we wouldn’t change anything about that day! Thank you so much to all of our amazing vendors for making our wedding day so incredible! They certainly deserve all the credit!
What was it like planning a wedding during a pandemic?
Planning a wedding in and of itself is stressful and then you throw a global pandemic on top of it. The whole process taught us to be extremely flexible and to go with the flow. Marrying each other was never a question, it was a matter of how and when it would happen. We are so extremely thankful for our amazing wedding vendors because our special day would not have happened the way it did without them. If you ever had any doubts about hiring a planner/coordinator…just DO IT! Also, Wedding Insurance exists…another worthy investment! Good luck to all the 2021 and 2022 couples planning their big day!
