Annika and Tyler made The Burrus House Inn their own by renting out all of the rooms for their wedding party. The happy couple said I Do on Shallowbag Bay in front of their friends and family. The guest list was kept to an intimate gathering, but the vendors were there in full-force. They had nothing but rave reviews for every aspect of their day—from the on-point coordination to the delicious food their guests are still talking about.

From the Couple
Please tell us more about your wedding and what made it special to you.
We rented out the entire Burrus House Inn which was incredible! All of our close friends and family stayed there or in vacation homes close by. It was so nice that everyone could check-in the morning of the wedding, start setting up (although they let us do that the day before too), continue celebrating later into the night, and say our goodbyes the next morning.
Vicki and Donna Mae at the Burrus House were so helpful. It felt like family by the end of everything. Donna Mae even did some last minute flowers that turned out beautiful! All of our vendors were amazing and helped make the entire day an absolute dream. My coordinator—Beth of Engaging Events—and her team were so knowledgeable and thought of every detail. I would’ve been lost without her!
Kasey’s photos speak for themselves. Kasey is such a cool person to just hang out with, which makes you feel so comfortable around her and it shows in the photos. She even played music we liked during our sunset photos which was such a neat idea. Our pictures look like artwork and we will cherish them forever. We didn’t meet our DJ—Jeremy of Outer Banks Wedding Entertainment—until the wedding day. He was so thorough, prepared, and professional and incredibly talented! He played acoustic guitar and sang during our cocktail hour and switched to the DJ table for the reception. He even took some pictures and videos and shared them with us after the wedding. That was such a special touch because he captured moments we wouldn’t have seen otherwise!
The food from Basnight’s Lone Cedar was delicious, people could not stop talking about it! Their team is also very professional and amazing. Our guests were chatting with their staff like old friends throughout the night—just a great group! The girls got hair and makeup done at It’s Royalty Salon down the street which was such a fun time! Everyone looked gorgeous. The day could not have been more perfect and we owe it all to our vendors, family, and friends!
Please tell us why you chose the Outer Banks for your wedding.
I grew up coming to the Outer Banks because my mom had always done the same. When Tyler and I started dating over 10 years ago, he joined our annual trip and fell in love with the Outer Banks too! We have so many special memories together there and hope to make more for years to come.
